Bringing nature and the community together

Donisthorpe CIC

Evalyn Gale Director
Evalyn Gale – Treasurer

I moved to Donisthorpe in 2001 after my career led me to a role in Birmingham with a leading distributor of IP solutions.  This role involved both financial and management accountancy, team leadership and project management across the whole operation. During the 18 years I was there the company experienced dramatic growth, accompanied by the respective increase in employees and stock holding along with procedural and system changes.

Whilst working I had very little time to be active within the village, but on retirement I wanted to become more involved in local community activities as a way to meet my neighbours and to offer my skills to the village.  I have been, or still am, an active member of Three Views Newsletter (the local free magazine), the Orchard Allotment Society, Donisthorpe Community Group, Donisthorpe Youth Club, Donisthorpe Craft Club and most recently Donisthorpe Community Interest Company.

I am very keen that green space, offering differing types of opportunity, are provided for the local community.  Donisthorpe is lucky to have a Country Park on its doorstep as a legacy of its mining heritage, but the CIC land offers an area that can be tailored specifically for the village, with a focus on the local flora and fauna and the development of community skills within this environment.

I love walking, long and short distance, and can often be found out and about with my rucksack, exploring the local footpaths. On shorter distances I am often accompanied by my dog, and if there’s a café on offer, my husband Pete
