Bringing nature and the community together

I have lived in the village since 2005 so I can confidently say that I feel part of the community. Our village is already a great place to live but if we can all ‘do our bit’, we can make it even better.

Nobody is going to tell us what to do, so if we as a community want something it is up to us to make it happen. The land has been an eyesore for as long as I can remember so when the opportunity came to do something about it I was more than happy to participate. From my point of view, the directors are not there to tell everyone what to do, we are taking a facilitator’s role, running the CIC itself and helping to put the wishes of the membership into action. By taking the lead, we hope that a large proportion of the community will get involved with the various projects on the land, either helping to create them or taking advantage of the facilities they provide.

My interesting fact is that I once had to go into China at the last minute for work and didn’t have a valid visa, so I ended up with an armed escort for the two days I was there!
